Hayek, the daughter of a wealthy Lebanese-Mexican businessman and his Mexican opera singer wife, decided to become an actress after seeing "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in 1971. She is also a director and producer, and has a few singing credits to her name.Hayek is best known for her role as Frida Kahlo in the film 2002 "Frida," for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. The next big film release for Salma Hayek is this year's "Puss in Boots," a 3D computer-animated "adventure" film produced by DreamWorks, which stars both AntonioBanderas and the actress. The film is a spinoff to the "Shrek" series, and it follows the character Puss in Boots on his adventures before his first appearance in "Shrek 2" in 2004. Accompanied by his sidekicks, Humpty Dumpty and Kitty Softpaws, he tries to save the world from the two murderous outlaws called Jack and Jill, who discovered an ancient power that can destroy the world. The film will be released in theaters on November 4.
